Where it began

It all starts with a vision. Kristin grew up in the hills of East Tennessee experiencing the traditions of Southern Appalachian culture. She lived throughout East Tennessee—from Knoxville to Chattanooga to Johnson City before making her way north to the Catskills region of New York. Today, Kristin has returned to her roots, living on the last 10 acres of her father’s working homestead—a place rich in family heritage. As a proud gentlewoman farmer, she is dedicated to restoring the land to its former beauty with native landscaping and heritage livestock.

In 2017, Kristin founded Chicken Librarian, LLC, a business built on her passion for self-sufficient living and sustainable farming. Before returning to her family’s estate, Kristin spent almost two decades in the Catskills. There, she lived at a 400-acre fly-fishing lodge, among other unique locales, where she refined her aesthetic and mastered her skills for entertaining. She cultivated her own food, hunted for her meat, and enjoyed the company of her chickens and her dogs. 

Now back in East Tennessee, Kristin is excited to blend her Catskills-inspired aesthetic with the vibrant traditions of Southern Appalachia. Through Chicken Librarian, LLC and Gather Event Design, she shares her expertise and passion for farm-to-table living, sustainable practices, and designing memorable events, offering others the tools and inspiration to embrace a meaningful and intentional way of life.
