Cozy
I’ve had a lot of conversations lately about my business and where I am pivoting towards. I’ve had a harder time pinpointing my services and developing that into a viable business plan. I know that the services I want to offer will work. I know my aesthetic will work. Where I am having a hard time is figuring out which service to start with and grow the business with.
In these conversations I’ve been having, one theme kind of comes up over and over and that’s ‘cozy’. I want people to feel cozy in their homes and their gatherings. We can elevate the gatherings and elevate our style but I still want it to evoke this sense of coziness. I think that’s what I’ve always been building since I first started diving into all things home-related.
It started years ago with me figuring out how to provide a more sustainable life for myself. I learned to grow my own food, raise my own chickens, and then start preserving the food. Then that lead me to thrifting for my clothes and my home furnishings. The next thing you know, I have a cozy home. When I look back at the pictures from my past (scroll back through the website far enough and you can see many different versions of home), the feeling that is evoked is cozy. Now that I am settled for a while here back on the family’s farmstead, I feel cozy. And no matter where I’m at and regardless of the items used, it always turns out to be a cozy home.
I don’t know what the next steps are for my business, or at least I don’t know which service I will be starting with, but I hope I can make whatever it is have that same feeling. I want to decorate and thrift and make things pretty. I want people to feel a sense of peace and enjoyment. I love the discovery of finding the right pieces and then putting them together in a way that makes sense.
Anyway, I’m feeling a little nostalgic as we wind down this year. I’m happy to be stepping into a new space with a new business plan and a new business model. I think it’s more ‘me’ and encompasses a lot more of who I am overall. What are you thoughts on coziness? What makes you feel cozy?
PS Did you spy all the photo updates I’ve made to the website? I had Shauna McCoy stop by the house a few weeks ago and we did a big time photo shoot! She is amazing! I’ve put all the photos that I’ve released here in one spot. If you need photos done, please contact her. She is so easy to work with. It also inspired me to update some of the photos on the website. And I’m happy I did! And talk about cozy! She nailed it without me even needing to say it.
‘til next time
